Where to stay

Stay in Culoz if you can: the climb starts in the village, so you can walk or ride to the road on race morning. Belley is a short drive away and has more hotels and rooms. The stage starts in Villars-les-Dombes, north of Lyon, so a night near the finish is easier than chasing the start.

Watching on race day

The upper slopes give the best view of the racing, and the finish area at the top fills first. Roads up the mountain close to cars well before the race, so plan to walk or cycle up early, with food, water and a warm layer for the wait.

Ride it yourself

The road from Culoz is the classic way up and is often called the hardest climb in the Jura. If you ride it before race day, start early to beat the heat and the traffic, and save some legs for the walk up on race day.
